The title is not entirely true. I am writing from the lobby of a posh resort on the banks of the Amazon. It is owned by the same company through which we have been seeing the local sights. It is so grand as to even have a jacuzzi connected to a main pool via a water slide. Very different when compared with the out houses, mosquito nets, and cold water only showers of where we are staying. Of course, it even that is nothing compared with how the locals live.

The Amazon is very muddy. The water is consistently brown. Despite that it teems with life. There are two species of Dolphin — one pink, one grey. And, as our guide says, the people live on fish and bananas.
