In Europe more so than the US, men’s restrooms utilize troughs instead of urinals. Depite the reduced privacy, these are a good idea for bars and such where good aim is in short supply. I have always thought that as a natural extension of this the entire floor should be made into a grate through which refuse could pass unabated. The Dublin bus station is leading this wave of innovation, it seems, as the floor directly beneath the urinals is indeed a grate. Clearly notable is the usefulness of this arrangement. Why bother with the hassle of aiming when the entire floor can be your oyster?
